How Snacking Sustains Energy Throughout the Workday

Cartoon of three people working and snacking

Why is it that snack time was an integral part of our days when we were kids, but as adults, that has since faded? We at Orsino Vending are here to tell you: keep on snacking! Many studies have shown the benefits of snacking; sustained energy, and in some cases, weight loss! If you need more proof, below is how snacking throughout the workday sustains energy.

We’ve all been there: it’s 3 PM, you have two hours to go, and you are tired. Most people will reach for a cup of coffee or a sugary soda. And while we understand why, it’s better to snack!

Caffeine will affect your sleep that night, causing you to be even more tired the next day.

By reaching for a snack, you are giving your body the tools to break down your choice of snack into sustainable energy for your body. Rather than a quick burst that fizzles, you will instead have energy that lasts you hours, pushing through the 3 PM slump and setting you up to have a restful sleep!

Of course, it does help if the snacks you choose are energy-boosting. There’s nothing wrong with a bag of chips or a cookie now and then, but if you have them every day, you’ll likely be bogged down. Instead, a solid rule of thumb to keep in mind is: fat, carb, and protein. This combination is not only a hunger-crushing powerhouse, but each component works together to ensure a long-lasting hunger-crushing combination.

To ensure you have the proper snacks to fuel a productive workday, consider us here at Orsino Vending. We have everything from coffee machines to fresh food machines for sale! Our machines are equipped for dollar bills and cards and offer quick, precise maintenance. We have proudly served Englewood, NJ, and its’ surrounding areas for over 25 years. 4 Helpful Ways to Make Your Coffee Healthier

Everyone loves their morning cup of coffee. And believe it or not, coffee has a lot of health benefits too! However, when you add milk, flavoring, cream, or sugar, it can increase your coffee’s calorie count fairly quickly.

Because you deserve to enjoy your morning cup of coffee, with all of its amazing benefits, here are some simple ways to make your coffee a little healthier:

Benefits of Drinking Coffee

Avoid Caffeine After 2 PM

Many people enjoy drinking coffee because it’s one of the most natural sources of caffeine in a diet. Coffee does a great job at giving you that extra burst of energy that helps you stay awake when you’re feeling tired. However, drinking coffee later in the day can impact the sleep you get at night. Usually, when you don’t get a good night of rest, you mood and overall health can be impacted.

Know Your Limits

Because many coffee consumers love the energy that coffee gives them, some people enjoy drinking multiple cups per day. While moderate coffee intake is still considered healthy, drinking too much can contradict all of the amazing benefits it offers.

Typically, you should only consume 1-2 cups per day. Always listen to your body when it comes to drinking coffee, and stop drinking it if you feel like you’ve had enough.

Add Cinnamon to Your Coffee

When you visit your local coffee bar, you may notice a container of cinnamon sitting on the counter. Believe it or not, cinnamon is often added to coffee because of its health benefits. Cinnamon has been known to help reduce inflammation throughout your body. Next time you enjoy your morning coffee, try sprinkling in some cinnamon for extra flavoring and health benefits!

Never Drink Coffee on An Empty Stomach

Although black coffee is a healthy drink to have in the morning, you should never drink it on an empty stomach. When you drink coffee on an empty stomach, it can lead to various health risks, and it has been linked to increased anxiety. Before you sit down and enjoy your morning cup, make sure that you’ve had a good breakfast first.

What Time Should You Stop Drinking Coffee (And How Much Is Too Much)?

Coffee at WorkMillions of Americans use coffee to fuel themselves through the workday. But despite coffee’s many benefits, which include lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes and liver disease in addition to its effects on alertness, it’s always possible to have too much of a good thing.

Drinking coffee too late in the day can affect the quality of your sleep and prevent you from getting a good night’s rest. Moreover, drinking too much coffee at work can be counterproductive, as it may make you anxious and irritable.

So, the question is: what time should you stop drinking coffee (and how much is too much)?

Generally speaking, it takes about six hours for the effects of caffeine to dissipate, so you should probably lay off the brew in the early afternoon at the latest. Many people find that a cutoff time of 2 p.m. works best. You probably have the greatest need for caffeine in the morning, so that’s the best time for your daily cup of joe. If you need an early-afternoon pick-me-up, opt for beverages with a lower caffeine content, such as tea with milk.

In addition, it’s a good idea to limit coffee consumption to a maximum of four cups per day. Beyond that, you’re likely to feel jittery and irritable.

Have trouble limiting your caffeine consumption? Use a smaller mug to give yourself the illusion that you’re drinking more.

Recent Research Finds Coffee Drinkers May Live Longer on Average

Cup of CoffeeDo you need that caffeine buzz to get your day started at work? Is the smell of fresh coffee the first thing you look forward to when you wake up? Your morning cup of joe might healthier than you think. according to at least two recent studies, coffee drinkers may live longer on average than those of use who don’t drink coffee.

You might have heard that coffee is bad for your health in the past, but as it turns out, much of the research supporting that theory was conducted when most coffee drinkers also smoked and suffered from the associated negative health effects. Researchers at the time did not necessarily track which subjects smoked and which did not.

A far more recent study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine followed half a million people ages 38 to 73 over a decade-long period. The researchers kept track of people’s coffee-drinking habits, smoking habits, health factors and mortality. They found that drinking anywhere from one to eight (!) cups of coffee a day was associated with a longer lifespan, regardless of how well the individual metabolized caffeine.

It’s interesting to note that the benefits extended to decaf drinkers as well.

Another study, reported in the British Medical Journal in 2017, linked coffee consumption with other health benefits, including a lower risk of diabetes, liver disease, certain types of cancer and more.

Study Finds Coffee May Protect the Brain From Cognitive Decline

Office CoffeeIt’s no secret that a fresh cup of coffee can give us a boost of energy and alertness in the morning, but new research suggests that drinking coffee could have long-term benefits on our cognitive health as well. Thanks to the presence of chemical compounds called phenylindanes that develop during the brewing process, coffee may contribute to a reduced risk of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

That’s what researchers at the Krembil Brain Institute in Toronto found after analyzing the chemical compositions of light roast, dark roast and decaffeinated dark roast coffees.

“Coffee consumption does seem to have some correlation to a decreased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease,” said Dr. Donald Weaver, co-director of the Krembil Brain Institute in a statement. “but we wanted to investigate why that is—which compounds are involved and how they may impact age-related cognitive decline.”

Weaver and his research team studied the effect of coffee on the brain by exposing three different coffee extracts to the amyloid beta and tau proteins which form “clumps” during the development of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. They found that all three extracts inhibited protein clumping, which suggests that coffee could help to stave off the progression of these neurodegenerative diseases.

They also noted that while both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee extracts inhibited protein clumping, the effect was more pronounced with dark roast coffee. This is likely due to the fact that phenylindane concentrations tend to increase in coffees with longer roasting times.

“By heating things up, the chemicals undergo changes,” said Dr. Weaver in a recent interview. “As well, the heating process gives us access to chemicals that would normally not be there.”

Ultimately, Dr. Weaver hopes that his research might help scientists develop a phenylindane-based treatment that prevents protein clumping, thereby slowing or even stopping cognitive decline in people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

As if we needed one more reason to start our day with a hot cup of coffee.

Benefits of Keeping Coffee in the Workplace

Coffee is a good thing to have around, especially in an environment where the main objectives are to get work done and refrain from snoozing. There is good reason why caffeine has found a permanent home in most workplace cultures. Here are the top 3 reasons why every workplace should offer the staple pick me up.

Coffee enhances performance.

Benefits of Keeping Coffee in the WorkplaceCaffeine, The active stimulant found in coffee, triggers the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine. Dopamine activates our brain’s reward center and is responsible for any goal-driven activity we may conduct on a daily basis. Norepinephrine plays a vital role in our fight or flight responses, improving our alertness and reaction time. Moderate coffee consumption has been proven to enhance memory, attention, reaction time, learning ability and general cognitive functions.

It stimulates interaction with co-workers.

“Let’s grab a cup of coffee” has become synonymous with having conversation. Although we’re talking about coffee in the workplace, as opposed to meeting up at a coffee shop, the basic principle remains the same. Coffee is a great way to decompress and have meaningful discussions with colleagues and superiors alike. Plus, contrary to popular belief, studies have actually shown that chatting up your office mate may actually promote, and not inhibit, productivity.

Coffee is good for your health.

While this may sound controversial, there is more research that points to positive health benefits of coffee than negative ones. A number of studies have revealed that daily consumption of three or four cups of coffee may reduce the risk of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, type 2 diabetes, liver disease and even strokes. With this in mind, it remains important to use your best judgment. If you have trouble sleeping or are prone to anxiety, however, you might want to refrain from having that extra cup of Joe.

Perk Up Your Team With Hot Coffee

With winter just around the corner, we know that the cold and snow is almost here in full force. Cool temperatures in the forecast don’t mean that you or your employees have to suffer through the dark and dingy months, however. How can you boost your team’s morale, you ask? Add a hot beverage machine! Not only does it service piping hot drinks for your clients and employees, but can be the perfect treat during those blustery winter days.

Coffee Vending MachineAdding a hot beverage vending machine from Orsino Vending offers several benefits for your business. For starters, your employees will not need to leave company grounds to grab a cup of coffee. Brain fuel is important, and your employees may need some type of stimulation to get through the day. Having employees constantly driving and off of the property decreases productivity. In fact, not having an on-site source of beverages has been statistically shown to adversely affect productivity, as Forbes reported. Coffee and snack runs are said responsible for as much as 2.4 billion hours of lost productivity annually.

Meeting your employees’ needs has been proven to stimulate employee happiness. When you meet a person’s needs, they will become happier and happier employees are more likely to put forth their best efforts for your organization. Warm beverages also tend to be healthier options than just soda or pop, so not only will your employees be warm, but they will also be healthier.

The best part of working with Orsino Vending is that the machine is free! With our vending services, there will be little upkeep for you. We regularly maintain and restock our vending machines, and we work to regularly maintain our machines to prevent incorrect change or improper vending problems. Why Vending Machine Coffee Can Help You Get Through The Day

Why Vending Machine Coffee Can Help You Get Through The DayCoffee is a lifeline for many people.

The difference between a good day and bad day is often the question of, “did I get my coffee today?”

If you are like many Americans, mornings are a scramble for getting out the door and hopefully you had time to brew a coffee.

If you forget to make your coffee at home, there is probably at least one coffee stop on your way to work, but what happens when you are running short on time?

We guess your coffee will have to pass for the day or maybe you can squeeze a run out later on lunch.

Neither of those options are conducive for those who enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee to start the day off right.

Maybe your office does have a coffee pot where you can make your own or share some of someone else’s. Usually, this scenario ends up with drinking coffee that sat a little too long or drinking coffee that really tastes awful.

A unique solution to this dilemma of needing coffee is to have a coffee vending machine. Coffee vending machines make fresh individual cups of coffee that are piping hot and delicious.

Typically of name brand, coffee vending machines have the latest brewing technology so that you get your coffee quick and hot.

Vending machine coffee is not only convenient and delicious, it is also considerably less in price than if you were to buy all of what’s needed to make your own pot or run through the drive-thru.

At Orsino Vending, we know you and your employees will appreciate the modern day convenience of a coffee vending machine and we supply only the best.
